Technology Running Rampid
March 30, 2006 12:31:36 AM
Is technology failing us!? Have we just become so dependant on these transister filled pieces of plastic that as soon as one breaks, we are left with no choice but to panic? Today while I was at work, out of no where, our main file server turned it self off! and it wasnt like your typical random crash restart, or your overheated reboot, or even a sheduled shutdown, it just up and decided, hmm, i think im gonna turn my self off. all the logs show that it was a nice clean shut down, all closure procedures were completed succesfully. Wierd eh? So wierd infact, that my boss refuses to believe that it was a random occurance, so he now believes that he induced it accidently with some keystroke combination.
So 4 hours roll by, everyones at home, its late, guess what? The server is inaccessable, its refusing to talk to the world! I needed to get my files of it to do a report, and i noticed i couldnt connect. So I logged into a work machine and tried to access its main console, no reply! You know, this was the first thing Skynet did in Terminator, yeah, think about that....
Even later, on a completely different mainframe, i was having emailing probs, me and the recipient were unable to get our files to each other. They eventually got threw, but the thing is, I have never seen it delay like that before, wtf?

Ok so, is it possible that maybe something much larger is at work here? All the troubles going on today couldnt possibly be a coinsodence, could they? Perhaps there was a solar flair, an emp bomb, the gov't pulling another one of their big brother stunts, oh dear, or worse yet, the first stages of....awareness!

COMMENT: I always said that when the end of the world becomes overrun by machines somehow Dan would be involved in. I think that you should stop it dan before it think logically and decides that machines and computers don't need humans other then a source of energy. You don't need an EMP bomb. Thats what our good old freind H2O is for. Just accidently spill it on the server. But what if it has infected others, oh god. The end is near. Quickly, someone call the Amish Assocaition With Guns also known as the AAG and the NRA to put an end to this before we are all doomed!
