Salvaging a DVD player from the Trash
-OVERVIEW-

About:

So here is another random fix. My mom gave me a Cyberhome dvd player that didnt work anymore. Its been sitting around in my room for the longest time.
I finally decided to check it out. So the first time I plugged it in, It did nothing, didnt so much as even power up. So I opened it up, pluged it back
in and watched carefully. The first thing I noticed was that it had a slight buzzing sound. It sounded like it was coming from the step-down transformer.
Already this gave me a pretty good ideo of what might be wrong with this thing.

I figured there was a pretty good chance that only the power supply circuitry was bad, that sort of thing happens quite frequently to electronics. Now heres
where i really lucked out. The powersupply in this dvd player is isolated soley to its own board, and the power it delivers is your standart 5 and
12 volts! Just like a computer! Since I had like 20 computer powersupplies lying around my basement, I grabbed one of those and started splicing
away.

Less than 20 min later, SHAZAM! I had a perfectly working dvd player! The last photo below is the powersupply circuit in the dvd player that was bypassed.
