Continuous Servo Modification

Summary:
Modify an RC servo for continuous 360 rotation.
-OVERVIEW-

About:
A standard servo can only rotate about 200 deg. Sometimes, however, you may want a servo that can rotate continuously. Examples
of such needs might include turning gears or for driving wheels. To do this modification is actually pretty simple, there are only 2 things
you need to remove from the servo's insides.

Picture Series:

First remove the 4 long screws from the bottom, flip it back upright, and take off the gear cover very carfully.

On the main drive gear you'll notice a piece of plastic sticking up that would restrict a full rotation, this
needs to be snipped of then scrapped smooth.

Next remove the bottom plate and gently pry out the circuit board.

As you can see, the top of the variable resistor's shaft pokes through the top cover and mates with the main drive gear.
The shaft itself is also only capable of rotating 200 deg, so it needs to be cut in half with some beefy cutters or
lineman's pliars.

Here you can see the plastic rotation stopper is shaved off and the top half of the variable resistor no longer
pokes through the top. And that's it! BUT before re-assembling, be sure to manually turn the resistor to it's
middle position. This way the servo will stop when the PWM signal is in the middle of the range, rotate clockwise
when the PWM is short, and rotate counter clockwise when the PWM is long.
