Sentinel Rocket Launcher
Developed:
7/1/2002

Status:
Complete

Summary:
A sentinel remote guided rocket launcher.
-OVERVIEW-

About:
This was deffinetely one of the more fun project I've done. I got to play with electronics, decent sized motors, and most importantly, I got to blow stuff up!

More seriously, this project probably emcompassed more areas of engineering than any other project I did at the time. There was electrical design, mechanical assembly, radio transmission, and even a little aero dynamics. The unit can be controlled either autonomously or by remote. It has a wireless camera build in just between the launch lugs so that it can give real time feed back of what its looking at to either a computer or a human controller.

In The Field:
       Powered up with live rockets.

Additional Photos:

Here is a picture of the unit from the front with the rockets attached.

This picture shows the aftermath of a rocket that skidded accross the back yard on its way to the target.

Two of the many rockets used on this launcer. Since so many launches took place, I didnt want to spend
the money for lots of rockets, so I made lots of these cheap disposable ones.

Here is an inner look at the controller.

Videos:

       Multiple launches.

Comment:     Dan, looks like you are using a *nix based filesystem. For your "Multiple launches" link to work, you need to change the .mov to .MOV at the end of the link.
