Summary:
An ultra high voltage generator using tv parts.
-OVERVIEW-

About:
Using a flyback transformer from a television and a very high frequency oscillator circuit based on the 555 timer chip, I was able to generate some of the most breathtaking electrical discharges I've ever seen. The idea is simple. The Flyback transformer found in a tv is just like any transformer, except that it's secondary coil is made up of so many windings that the output voltage can be in the tens of thousands of volts. But do to the primary windings being made of such fine wire, you are pretty limited on the amount of current you can input. So by making my own primary (7 windings around the ferrite core) and connecting it to a power transister, you can drive an emense amount of current at any frequency you want. You don't want to use the standart 60 hz from your wall because these transformers are actually calibrated to function most efficiently at around 30-50 kHz. This is also why you think you can hear an ultra high pitched tone when someone turns on a tv. That sound is the transformer humming at it's resonance frequency.
