BinaryBedlam: Flying Saucer Draught Emporium: Nashville

          This Saturday night I went to the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium at the Union Station Hotel in Nashville, and man was I in for a surprise! It was nothing like I was imagining (which was a mental image initially consisting of a sleezy smokey run down bar actually shaped like a flying disk) Actually this was more of an upscale ritzey place built inside an old train station. The UFO decore was actually kept pretty low key. There was even a cover to get in, which I didnt like, of $3. But the good live music made up for that. I can honestly say, I've never heard a band play White Wedding or Ah Ha's, Take on me. So I was pretty impressed.

     Their on-tap beer selection was quite nice, about 70+ to choose from, which made me wonder why so many people were getting things like Coors. There is also a nice bottled beer selection including many of my favorites, German and Belgium Weiss Biers. And finally, a place that has good buffalo wings, you can get this thing called the, Bowl O' Wings, and you get 10 very meaty wings in a spicy but not too hot sauce. This is the first time I've found something on par with the Lancaster Brewing Co's.

     Overall, I would have to say I like this place a lot more than some of the other bars I've been to here in Nashville, but despite all the pros, there were still deffinetely some areas needing improvement. I've found that once you get a table, the service is pretty bad. Seems like a lot of waitresses just don't care, or are just plain rude. What it could be, and is usually the case most often, is actually their uniforms. They are all wearing ultra short dresses with thigh high stockings and tight shirts. Now I'm not gonna complain about that, It's always nice to have something to look at while drinking, but outfits like those tend to make the girls more cocky. And after a full night of stupid pick up lines and getting hit on by drunk guys, they tend to loose more and more hospitality towards everyone. So long story short, order from the bar and all will be well.
