Fernandina Beach - FL
July 10, 2014 8:37 PM

Doing more work at Naval Submarine Base KingsBay, staying near Fernandina Beach, a really neat small town, reminds me a little of KeyWest, only toned down a bit.

Our first horse race in Lexinton, KY! Every day in the month of April they hold races. 10s of thousands of people tailgate out in the surrounding fields and the entrance fee into the actual stadium is only $5, its like a continuous giant party!

Our Landlord has a pet serval, it's a 45lbs wild African cat she adopted as a kitten. Its domesticated and safe now. She feeds it 2 raw chicken legs a day and even managed to potty train it!

Water Falls, Appalachian Trail, NC
March 23, 2014 7:59 PM

We walked a pretty remote section of the Appalachian Trail quite a ways to see some amazing waterfalls. The first one, Elk River Falls, is easier to get to and has a higher volume of water. The second, Jones Falls, is deep in the woods several miles up the mountain. It has less water, but a much taller cascade. There were several smaller ones along the way. We backpacked with all our photo gear, good exercise!

COMMENT: We have to go there again and this time to Biltmore! I was waiting for Han Na to come so we could take her there but with us moving further away now and she not coming, we need to go there so we can say we visited one of the most famous landmarks in the area. And of course get plenty of cool pictures!

Album: Mount Vesuvius, Italy
February 10, 2014 11:15 PM

I had some work to do at the Naval Base in Naples, Italy. While there I got to do a little site seeing on the weekend. It was a very stressful trip due to the long work hours, high pick-pocket rates, language barrier, and nearly-non-existent traffic laws. And when ever you venture out of the city limits, the locals stare at you like you just killed a man, its very unsettling. But the views are spectacular, the history is intense, and the architecture is beautiful. I also was fortunate enough to find a guide who took me to some neat spots at night that I probably would never have dared to go!

Winter Wonder Land
January 28, 2014 8:39 PM

The biggest snow fall I have ever seen living here, a whole 2.5 inches! Unfortunately it was so light and fluffy that it wouldn't pack at all, you couldnt make snowballs much less snowmen. You dont even need a shovel to clear the driveway, a leaf blower works just fine...
