Photoshoot with K & S
December 23, 2013 10:23 PM

Turns out my white screen shoot last time was so successful that more people had interest in it, so I set it up again, only in the basement this time where there was a little more room. I think my shots were even better this time!

Wedding Shots for R & C
September 28, 2013 6:07 PM

Forgot to post these, so gonna back date it, but anyway, I thought I'd try my hand at wedding photography, so even though they hired an actual prof photographer, I pretended I was it to get some practice, this took the pressure off. I got some pretty nice stuff. I shot primarily with my 50mm prime. This was at the Grandfather Winery in Banner Elk, NC. Beautiful place!

December 20, 2013 12:04 PM

My old HS friend, Emmy, was passing through from Atlanta and dropped by! We did a shopping day trip to Jonesborough and caught up at the local brewery.

Photoshoot with J & K
November 17, 2013 5:16 PM

My first attempt at a white screen photoshoot. It's basically just a white tablecloth with 2 bright lamps blowing out the background. Then I have the models move forward and prevent them from being a silhouette by using an umbrella flash for my key lighting. The majority of the pics also used a second fill flash.

HDR Exposure Bracketing Experiments
November 10, 2013 2:34 PM

I finally got some good HDR (high dynamic range) software to stack images of varying exposure values to combine the best qualities of each photo into one. And holy crap, the results are stunning! I don't know why I haven't played around with HDR photography before.

COMMENT: It makes everything look very cool but very surreal as well.

COMMENT: Yup, that surreal effect is the most desirable quality, also more regions in the photo are visible.

CHECK IN: Downtown - Lexington, KY
November 01, 2013 8:07 AM

A quick overnight trip to Lexington for interviews. Nice clean town, not too packed or noisy, but not dead either. Seems like a pretty nice place.

Album: Changing Leaves - Buffalo Mountain, TN
October 26, 2013 4:48 PM

We decided to do a hike at Buffalo Mountain Park to see the turning fall leaves. Its still a bit early, but we still saw some bright colors. We got a little lost in the woods this time, took a wrong turn on one of the paths. Remember, at the return split, turn right!

Album: Foggy - Seattle, WA
October 27, 2013 7:54 PM

Went back to the NorthWest for work, this time in the fall. Man was it foggy! It was so bad sometimes that you literally couldnt see your hand in front of your face! Met up with Jane and Chris again, did a little site seeing. The cool bridge was Deception Pass, it connects the mainland to Whidbey Island, very high up and narrow, quite scary.

CHECK IN: Oktoberfest - Asheville, NC
October 12, 2013 11:42 AM

We actually remembered to buy tickets early this year! For $35 you get an all day pass, a free mug, and all the beer you can sample! They played authentic polka the whole time, and since it was Asheville, a largely hippy town, they even had vegetarian bratwurst!

Album: Bay Area Fun - San Francisco, CA
September 24, 2013 4:35 PM

We went back out to San Jose to visit friends and to see their new baby. Last time we were out here was for their wedding, so this time they had a lot more time to play tour guide. And boy did we see a lot! Lick observatory, which was high up and scary and unfortunately closed but neat to see. A red wood forest, the golden gate bridge, a dinner cruise, a wide variety of ethnic food, Napa Valley, and a huge computer history museum. Great times!

Album: Desert in the Fall - Phoenix, AZ
September 22, 2013 1:13 PM

Went out west to see Pyae and Baker. The trip was short but we got lots in. Authentic Dim Sum style Chinese, Hole in the Rock mountain climbing, laser tag, cat play time, Trivia night, and Burmese cooking!
