Mosquitoes! September 15, 2006 05:19:26 PM

Well I certainly fcked up :-/ I had some extra time today, so after school stuff and work, I decided to go to the junk yard again to get some more stuff before it starts getting really cold outside. Right before I was ready to go, it was my rationalle that, it was pretty cold last week, and its getting pretty late in the season, so most of the bugs should be dead, it's kinda warm today, so ill go ahead and wear my shorts.

Man was that a big mistake! There were more mosquitoes swarming around than i had ever seen! I mean they were on me like ants to an open sugar jar. While i was working, i was swatting visciously, but I dont think it did any good, I have a feeling, tomorrow I will be so itchy it will be absolutely rediculous, my amrs and legs will look like the face of a sci-fi computer-loving teenager who just slathered his face with a handfull of fryer greese :-/
No Shorts Today September 13, 2006 09:51:28 PM

Hardly a month into the new semester and I'm already wearing pants. Today marks the first day down here at Tech that I didnt wear shorts :-( I hate pants, they're so restrictive and they make me feel too hot and sweaty and uncomfortable bleh. It was chilly today (doesnt normally stop me), looked like it was gonna break out pouring, and I'm still sick, so being caught in those conditions with shorts and sandles probabbly wouldnt help me recover to quickly, so I conceded. Oh well, what can ya do :-/

About my sickness, I seem to be a little better today than yesterday. Its strange, I wake up feeling fine. But the longer Im awake the worse I feel. Like I mean i wake up with a nice dry nose, a clear throat, and no caughing. But once I get out of bed, and start doing my daily thing, all those things come back. Its like during sleep, the viruses say, ''All right, we'll cut this guy a break just long enough to get some sleep'' Aw, nice guys! Also, someone told me the other day that your average cold, (hopefully thats all this is) lasts about 4 days. I'm not sure yet, but I think he might be right. I feel like I'm already on the road to recovery, and tomorrow would be the official day 4, so if by Friday, I'm feeling almost completely up to parr, than his theory is correct.

It should also be worth noting, I can tell Im getting better, but I took no medicine. I do not want to take the stuff unless absolutely necessary. I will just 'walk it off' as it were, 'suck it up' and 'take it like a man'. Seriously, people are too dependant on the stuff, and use it way to often when in most casses it just isnt necessary. This constant use of medicines, especially antibiotics, is only making things worse for ourselves a little ways down the road. Viruses and bacteria reproduce like crazy, some yielding hundreds of generations every 24 hours! That allows for a much higher rate of evolutionary adaptation. And with the presence of so much medicine, they're only going to gain an immunity to the stuff. So if we want medicines to continue working, we shouldnt use the stuff. I like this phrase, 'If it doesnt kill you, it only makes you stronger.'
Hmm, Sick? September 11, 2006 05:46:15 PM

Well this certainly doesnt happen very often, but I seem to be sick! I thought I had an immune system of steel, but aparently I was dreadfully wrong. In just one day I developed the full set of symptoms. Sore throat, runny nose, slight caugh. Khine was down this past weekend, and she was fine when she got here, and is already back in UVA and is still showing no signs of sickness, well thats good. Luckily I didnt catch this thing till the day she had to go home, wish I knew how I got it though.

So I got to thinking though, with our very different backgrounds, we must have completely different immune systems. I mean this bug i have right now should be like perfect proof, cause we were together all weekend. So like something that would make me sick might not effect her, and vise versa, if she catches something, I could already be imune to it. Now dont take this the wrong way, I dont want kids now or any time soon, but from a biological standpoint, if offspring were conceived between us, given our two completely different geographic upbringings, then they should have a new and potentially 200% more efficient level of immunity.

Now I dont know that much about genetics or which genes in the immune system are recessive or carry over from one generation to the next, but the potential is deffinetely a fact. So its these types of truths that always make me wonder why some people are still so against inter-racial couples. Stupid people, cant those rednecks see that inter-racial marriages can result in a higher level of human immuno sophistication with an increased T-cell identification rate resulting in a reduced percentage of biotic infections due to parasites? Idiots, its so simple! :-/ I mean, If my parents weren't both germans (aside from the fact that I wouldnt be here right now), I could be healthy right now!

Think about it!
NO TIME! September 04, 2006 01:09:11 AM

Arg! I wanna put something new in here but I keep getting distracted or overwhelmed with crap to do! I'll post something soon I swear!
Back at AOE August 24, 2006 12:59:45 AM

I'm back at work again in AOE's IT dept. I guess I can honestly say, so far so good. I thought it would be a lot worse upon my return without luke or david, but Steve, aoe's electrical engineer, seemed to have a pretty good handle on things as Luke's temp fill in. Granted I've been teaching him tons of stuff already, there were no huge problems that we couldnt handle yet, and everyone was glad to see me back, so that was kind of comforting.

I guess not much else to say about it. Oh, so my 2 classes seem like they will be allright. The professors are pretty cool. I can tell though, DDII will be pretty rough, I'll be spending a lot of time on those damn projects again. Oh well, it will do me good in the long run im sure :-)
Back in the Burg August 20, 2006 01:25:45 AM

So I'm back at tech, been here for almost 5 days now, and I'm just now getting settled in. It's been like non-stop stuff ever since I arrived in blacksburg. I had hardly any time to relax as I had been originally planning. First and foremost, seems like the house was nominated for 'Extream Home Makeover' because so much was being renovated. New driveway, painting the upstairs, new furnature, new carpeting for the entire downstairs, so much freaken work! Also, I've been trying to set up my room electronics, went to someones Crawl, made an apearence at a beer party, put in some community service hours helping freshmen move in, went to a 5 hour Fraternity counsil meeting, etc. I've been so busy I still havent started the robot project I was dreaming about on my drive back down here :-(

Any who, something at Alex's birthday bar crawl tonight struck me as interesting. There were a lot of friends there, so of course little cliques formed all over the place so I was doing a lot of mingling to talk with everyone. After working my way out of the engineers group, I went back towards Alex's. He was already pretty drunk but still managed to introduce me. At this point he was hanging out with friends from his theater classes i guess, which was why i needed an intro, but anyways, there was this one kid there that had a japanese girlfriend, so i guess in a feable attempt to play the 'common grounds' card for a less awkward conversation start, he was like, 'This is Dan, he's got the yellow fever too' which completely backfired and only made things more awkward than originally planned, but thats cool, no one cared, he was drunk, all was well in a few min anyways. Thats not the point of this story anyways.

Continuing on, seeing those 2 was making me miss Khine. So during my quiet moments at the table, I quickly became infatuated with them, sort of wishing those two people were me and my g/f. As the night went on, I started realizing, you know, that guy is a real ass hole towards her. Not that its any of my business how he works his relationship, but he was very controlling. I noticed he never left her side for a moment, was really deffensive of who she talked to, grabbed things from her hand, and was constantly ordering her, like, 'Hey! Get over here!', and 'Would you just give me that'. I was like, man, what a dick! I started wondering again, what do girls see in that? Man! I hope I never get like that, but if i do, please dont hesitate to tell me, hell, smack me around a bit, because seriously, girls are people too!

OH, and just an observation, not making any conclusions here, but, he poped his collar....hmmm...
So Far So Good August 09, 2006 08:50:49 AM

Today is already becoming a pretty good day. I just got off the phone with dad, and he already unclogged the sink, and I asked him what he wants for his b-day, and he said he wants nothing. So I'll get him something modist anyways. Also, I just made my tuition payment to VT and that went through smoothly. LOL that was due this friday, and I was getting worried cause the e-bill said I owed like 5k when i knew I owed a lot less than that, so now thats all strightened out and thats a huge burden off my sholders.

It gets better! I also called the Direct Loan agency today about my college loan payments, because they were just getting out of controll, and even that went well. I mean seriously, just yesterday I got the new bill in, and because interest just went up again, They wanted $600 a month! Yeah, BULLSHIT! With dads permission of course, I had to call in posing as dad in order to get any info, well.... I was able to drop my loan payments by over 200 bucks! And on this new plan, the payments will stay that way for the next 2 years, then after that, gradually increase every successive 2 years only slightly. I was very pleased.

Oh yeah finally, I got an email back from one of the guys up in the office building, a fellow Hokie I should mention, and in the email he's already asking me for when I come back, would I like to be on the Generator Design group, or field services. How sweet is that? I hadnt even thought about field services, I forgot all about that, I mean I know dad did that, but I didnt consider it for myself. That would be freaken awesome, I've always wanted to travel, this could potentially be my opportunity to see the world. I mean shit, we have our products in the US, Canada, Argentina, UK, France, Germany, China, just to name a few. Craziness.

And on top of all this, today is Wed, LBC NIGHT! WOOOOO
Khines First B-day with Me August 08, 2006 03:14:15 PM

We seemed to cover a lot of stuff this short weekend. Her actual birthday is on the 9th but that didn't stop us from having a killer time! I left work early again, 2ish, and drove non-stop this time. No breaks or pauses, straight driving. I made it down there at 6:05.
FRIDAY

So after unloading the car and getting all unpacked, like the first thing we did was the b-day gifts. From me she got a tennis/raquetball racket, a pair of computer headphones with boom mic, and a card. Not too shabby :-) LOL oh yeah! almost forgot about this part, we started making a pizza right around then, but left it in the oven too long. Burnt to a crisp! It was only in like 5 min longer than it should have. Oh well, that didnt stop us from eating it. The bottom wasnt all the way burnt, and the insides were still normal, just the top was like eating pure carbon.

A little later, it was party time. One of her friends from the hospital just opened an art gallery in downtown C-ville and was throwing a dance party in celebration. So we dressed up and head out. Oh, and to get there, we took the trolly instead of driving so i could get drunk if need be :-) When we finally find the place, it wasn't exactly as we were expecting. It was sort of in the buildings basement, now it was a finnished basement, not dirty and dingy or anything, but MAN was it hot! Litterally, there was no ventilation and the people down there were sweating bullets. We only stayed long enough to see the art on the walls.

Since we were already downtown, we just walked up and down the strip. Theres always plenty of people and things to see. At one end theres this wall purposely made to write on with chalk. We hung out there for a bit and drew things on it. Just after that we were feeling slighly hungary again, so we walked some more and got some gelatos. Cookies and cream is soooo good!
SATURDAY

We woke up ealier than we normally do, I guess thats why it seemed like the day lasted longer. We started off getting breakfast at Bodo's Bagels. A mistake was made on the order so Khine got a free chickensalad sandwich on a garlic bagel. After getting stuffed on bagels, we walked accross the street to an asian market. Didnt get very much, just some drinks and a lolly pop.

A little later we tried to catch the trolley again, but it wasnt on time, so this time we drove to downtown and caught a movie. We saw Clerks II, and it was freaken hillarious! It was just as good if not better than the first one. It was also the first movie she and I had gone to see together.

After the movie, we went back home and took it easy for a little bit. We cleaned up and took a nap. Around 9pm it was time to head back out. This time for her b-day dinner. We ended up chosing Cheeseburgers in Paradise again. Always a good choice. Man and we really lucked out this time. Just as we got there, a band was setting up for an extra long set. At first we got far away seats from the stage, but i requested a closer seat, and we got it! we were front row! Such good music too, not just Buffet, lots of oldies but goodies, live music is so much better when you can sing along!

After that we realized the sky was actually clear for once. And since we're both into star gazing, we decided to do just that. We first went to the grocerystore for some provisions, ;-) and beer, back to her place for a blanket, and then to Lambeth aphatheater where we first hooked up for a night of stars! It was very nice, although the mosquitoes were a little out of hand!
SUNDAY

Ok so sunday we slept in a little longer that sat. I was gonna eat a normal breakfast too for once cause i had this craving for eggs, but i got something much better. Khine prepared a very nice traditional Burmeese dinner for us with quite a variety of dishes. I would have to describe it all as crazy spicy, very similar to Tai foods, but somehow more flavorfull. After that I cleaned up again and just chillaxed! We had an action packed weekend so settling down is always welcome. Unfortunatley though, my departure time came quickly. Had lots of stuff, Khine helped me carry my things down, and we said our goodbyes.

On the drive home, I was thinking the whole time how I wanted to relive that weekend all over again, so much fun!
Shes Gone! August 01, 2006 10:29:53 AM

Well its about time! I think the lady that was working just out side my office is finally gone. I over heard a conversation the other day, i didnt hear much, but i did make out something along the lines of, ''sure you won't need me for anything else?'' or something like that. She was also gone for the rest of that day, and her work space was cleaned up and stacked neatly. Today now, its already 10:30 and she isnt here yet, so im pretty sure shes done in the maintenance dept. Wohoo! Finally, I dont have to be self conscious all day long.
Radio Cruise Lost July 31, 2006 07:04:38 AM

Omg, I almost forgot to write about this. On my way to work the other morning, I was listening to one of my favorate radio stations, 96.1 WSOX, and you know how all these stations have call-in questions for prizes and what not? Well on this peticular day, They were playing the game 'What the Hay-day did they say?' Its a game where they play a breif snipet of a song thats really hard to understand, then you're suppose to call in and tell them very articulately what was being said. It should also be worth mentioning that the winner of that mornings event was for 2 tickets on a 3 day cruise in the keys or something.

Well... the snipet that morning was from Elton John's Rocket Man. I was like, OMG, I know this! So I started calling. Call, nothing, Call, nothing, finally, Call, I GOT Threw! I was talking to mad dog and rudy, the morning announcers, and I told them what he was saying, 'Burning out his fuse out there alone' He then asked me to repeat it one more time for verification, and i did, and just like that it was over :-( I was so sure of myself! But it was aparently wrong. First thing I did when i got to work was looked up the lyrics. I was actually screwed over by shatner! Can you believe that? The version of the song that i've heard like a million times was slightly diff from the elton john version, apparently the way Elton sang it was, 'Burning out his fuse UP HERE alone'. BAH! thats crap, oh well, what can ya do? Of course i was pissed the rest of that day.
Cultural Differences July 28, 2006 02:23:50 PM

So last night after working both jobs, I get home, and I am absolutely starving. I look in the fridge for somthing to munch on, and I see a couple thing I havent used yet since I got them. A jar a kaya, and a tub of pork sung. Both are asian items given to me by Khine. So I get out some bread and start making the 2 sandwhiches. When their done, I take a bite of each to test their quality, Excellent!

Before I take them back to my room, I decide to pay Brandon a visit. I take them to his room and ask him if he'd like a bite of each to see if he likes them. Now before he even agrees to my generous offer he haistily responds, ''What are these? You know if thier foreign I'm not gonna like them.'' So I said, ''Just try them.'' And he does, he cringes for both of them! WTF seriously, they are not that bad. The kaya taists like apple butter, and the pork sung taists like a cross between beef jerkey and bacon.

Oh well, I guess some people just cant learn to like other cultures. I swear though, if fast food ever went away, my brother would absolutely starve!
Busy Work day, Good Lunch! July 25, 2006 02:28:35 PM

Couple things here, first off, the septic situation is under control. We've decided to plug up the pipe we cut, fill back in the hole, and just let it go the way it has been. It wasnt hurting any one, and it was only exhausting the excess drainage water. We'll deal with the thing when we have more time and money to do so.

Also, today at work, lots going on. So Hamzik has been gone for a while now. I've been doing work for the maintenance dept, and a boss in the machine shop. Got a big chunk of work done today. Theres this new lady doing secratary stuff in the adjacent room to my office, and shes with-in line of site all freaken day! How can i doze off now if need be!? Today was also the first day this summer I left work for lunch. I went out with mom and Holly to A-Won buffet. She wanted to go to TacoBell, and I was like, yeeeaaaah, thats ok, lets go here instead. I picked that place by a recomendation from a friend, and a pretty good recomendation at that! Thanks Logan.

At work today I also finally met with a guy that my dad has been hounding me to meet for a long time, Bob Steele. He and dad have worked a lot together a long time ago, and hes like one of the only other people here at Voith that graduated from VT. When I went up there to introduce myself and talk and stuff, I swear 75% of the convo was dominated by reminiscence of the campus, very nice!
OK back to work for now!
Love, War, & Peace July 11, 2006 08:48:58 AM

Arg, I have all these thoughts in my head and I can't seem to organize them logically. I'll just jot it down as they come to me then, stream of concious style.
Love:

Now, it seems to me that the phrase ''I love you'' is used way more than it should be in everyday relationships. Like to me, it seems like people use it only a few weeks or even days into their courting. How could they possibly know that soon? It's almost as if it has become just this common place cliche thing that you just say to your significant other. Like it doesnt really have meaning any more. It's not like that for me though. I have been in a few short relationships during my life, but I've never once been able to use those three words. I didnt want it to be meaningless or just another thing.

Well, as of last night, the next big step in my relationship has been taken. Completely unexpected, a conversation arose which invariably led from one thing to another, and before we knew it, we found ourselves discussing the use of those very 3 words. To make it even more touching, turns out we were contemplating the very topic for a while. Like I know I've been trying to picture the moment and method I'd partake to use it for the first time. I've even asked people when they started using it, and it turns out Khine was doing the same thing! how freaken cool is that? Anyways, with little deliberation, it was finally stated, I LOVE KHINE! and so was the reverse.

Its like nothing is different, my feelings are still the same, and probabbly nothing will change, but suddenly it feels like some sort of final barrier has been knocked down. Like i was unable to give it my all, but now its full steam ahead! Crazyness. Oh and another thing iv heard, was that the relationships that use 'I love you' right off the bat are often the ones that never last. The ones who wait tend to last longer because your making sure the person is the right one first, so your much more cautious.
War:

Allright so on my way to work this morning, Im actually feeling much more awake than i was yesterday. I think i actually got 8 hours this time. Every damn day its the same thing. Its like a blasted race to the finnish or a war on the grounds of road-rage. Everyone is in such a hurry to get where their going that negligence is the only service each person provides. No one watches out for you, its like pure Darwinism, survival of the fittest, the weak will perish!

I'm about to get onto rt 83 from the mt rose exit. Im going down the ramp about to get on, and the lady in front of me slams on her brakes. Now this was completely legit, we did have a yield sign, and there was infact another car approaching from the other merger point. Just after that merging car passes. The lady infront of me slowly begins moving again, then right as i look over my sholder to make sure that no other cars are coming, she slamed on her brakes again! This time the next car merging was a ways back, and stopping again was, this time, unneccisary! Well just my luck, I hit her! Our bumbers smacked pretty flush.

After the colision, we both pull off to the side, the ramp has a real narrow side strip, so i signal to pull up further. At the wider part, we both get out to observe the dammages. I ask her if shes ok first, then Finally a little luck, not a single scratch on either vehicle. We didnt even bother to exchange information. The whole accident scenario probbably took place at just 5 miles per hour, i guess thats hardly enough to inflict any vehicular damages cosidering how our bumbers touched. And the whole inspection process that took place imediatedly after prob took only 2 min. So before we knew it, we were both back on the road almost as if nothing had happened.
Peace:
Today at Voith marks the final day of my boss. He put in his 2 weeks notice a while back, and with a few days of paid vaccation saved up, John Hamzik will be making his last appearence in our offices today. Apparently he got a better job up north, and will be getting a bigger house for his new baby. So what does this mean for me? Ha, Peace and quiet. From what i hear between the workers in their feeble atempts to keep the roaming gossip to them selves, A lot of Hamziks decisions were not approved of. Now me being his apprentice, I've had a hand in a bunch of these ideas so naturually I probabbly wasnt that well liked either. But with my boss gone now, I will have even less work to do, and nobody will have anything to say any more. Didnt think this was possible, but I'll now have even more peace.
A Variety of Things July 02, 2006 06:57:50 PM

SO today was fairly productive. It started with me getting up a little ealier than I wanted to. Mom was here for some unknown reason, again, and shes never very quiet, even if people are sleeping. So once up, i decide to finnish one of my books. I was only 40 pages from its conclusion and as I neared the end, the story kept getting better.

When i left my room for the first time that morning, i was greated with the succulent smells of home cooking, dad had been preparing a nice lunch. So I gobbled that down :-) It was then when dad remember to confront me, ''Weren't you gonna tell me Ham-bone was quitting?'' I was like what? I had never heard this but apparently theres a rumor going threw the plant that my boss is or has turned in his resignation. I really dont know, its news to me :-/

So I also find out that moms dog cheyanne ran away this morning. Apparently it has already been found though. Also, while i was eating dads lunch, mom calls me and tells me im suppose to go up to mt pisgah church right away, their having a bbq, i was like, ummm, im already eating, dad made a nice lunch. so that was all very ironic.

Any who, since i fixed that dvd player, i decided to reaaaaly test it, you know, for longevity, see if it could actually get threw a whole movie. so while i was doing work in my room i decided to put on some dvds i own but hadnt watched in a good long time. So i put on the longest one i had, Lord of the Rings, damn thats a good movie. Yup so while that was on, i finally gathered the motivation to get a bunch of stuff on ebay. Dad has all this old coca-cola stuff down stairs he doesnt want, said i could auction it off if he gets half. So i took pics, wrote up descriptions, and i now have 14 lots on ebay at the moment. Hopefully some of that stuff will sell, i could use some extra money in my paypall acount, getting a little low.

Oh yeah, cant forget, so while i was sitting in front of my computer talking to Khine, i feel this little irritation behind my knee, so i go to scratch it, and i feel something mooshy with legs! My instinctive reaction is to rapidly throw my hands out into the open, which is what i did. The force half smashed the thing and where it landed on the carpet it lay still. I thought it was dead, i looked at it more closely and man, it was something weird. Had sort of the same body shape as a lightening bug, but a much larger head, antenae equal or greater to the length of its whole body, and much more gangly legs. Relieved of its demise, i hesitantly resume my activities. Just a few min later, i look back at the insects death bed in an almost involuntary move to reasure myself of its absense of life. OMG it was gone! I was like freaking out. It must have been pissed now, and whats scarier than seeing something like that? Its seeing something like that and then not knowing where its hiding. He'll prob be back, and once the mild concusion wears off, he'll bring reinforcements, prob centipedes too, yuck!
COMMENT: Aw, Danny..I'm so sorry. You poor thing..
