The smaller ones are smarter!? June 22, 2006 09:18:35 AM

I noticed somthing on my drive to work this morning. While I was headed down east prospect rd, i saw a little chipmonk run out from the embankment and head toward the road. as i passed him, he was on the opposing side, at which time there was a full sized 18 wheel tractor trailer behind me and i thought to myself, 'Aw man, that poor little guy is gonna die.' Well, as i passed the little guy, i looked into my rear view mirror to confirm my hypothesis. Low and behold, i was wrong! He actually stopped, waited on the yellow lines for the traffic to pass, then resumed his trek accross the asphult jungle! I coudnt believe it! he was smart enough to wait for the traffic.

So it was emidiately after this little miracle that it had occured to me, 'you know, iv never seen a dead chipmonk, or even a squirrel for that matter, as road kill before' Of all the years iv been driving iv never seen them on the road side dead. It has been aproximately 50% of the time ground hogs, 25% deer, and 25% opposums. That is just so odd that the tiny-brained chipmonks are smarter than the larger-brained groundhogs, and smarted than the even-larger-brained deer. Go figure :-/
Miserable June 21, 2006 08:09:21 AM

You know, I went to bed early last night so i wouldnt feel the way i do right now, but apparently thats too much to ask. Last night was like the most miserable night I had ever had in a long time, and this morning didnt make things any better thats for sure.

So after i read my book, I tried to go straight to bed. Well first off, it was insanely hot last night, and my ac is broken. I had to turn 2 fans on me to try to stay cool. So that alone is probabbly what began to make me irritable. As I was laying there, the kitchen door kept opening, and slamming shut. My brother had a bunch of friends over last night, and i swear to god not a single one of them knows how to use a door correctly. Open, SLAM!, open, SLAM! all freaken night!

Moving on, dad just had the carpets in the living room cleaned, so all the stuff out there was moved to the kitchen, including the dog cage (with the dog in it). The kitchen is right next to my door. I have never heard one animal make so much noise in my life. It was howling, whining, wheeping, barking, scratching and growling non stop. I was loosing my mind! I wanted to punt that little monster off the susquehanna bridge.

Oh theres more! So i guess since brandons friends came over, thats why he had the rear spot lights on the house turned on. He even left them turned on for a long time. Now what are insects attracted too at night? Well my bedroom windwos are right next to these spot lights. So not only was the light itself distracting, there were so many bugs in my room. little moths hovering about, lol, even freaken lightening bugs, can you believe that? I honestly dont think i got to sleep untill 5am, and i had to wake up at 6:30 :-(

So why do i say the next morning was no better?? Cause my freaking brother is a dumb ass! First off, dad has a big ac running in the living room, the front door was left wide open. Electricity costs went up this summer, the spot lights were still turned on. I finally make it outside to go to my car for work, what do i find? beer cans all over the porch. OMG, he knows dad is a recovering alcoholic, is my brother the dumbest kid on the planet? he doesnt think or care about anything. So i round all the cans up and go to put them into the trashcan, as i pull my hand away, i feel something squishy, i look more closely at the can, yup, not noodles at all, magots. They were aparently feasting on all the chicken
my brother was supposed to eat for supper the other day.

Finally i get into my car. Im ready to pull out, NOPE, cant even do that. WHY!? Because my stupid brother cant even park his car. Hes so damn inconsiderate of others. Its parked in the dead center of the driveway! So i have to do a complete 180 number in only a few feet of space, and go out the oposite end of the driveway.
Free Food! June 16, 2006 11:36:46 PM

Today I ate like a king. I normally consider myself very lucky when I can get free food just once a week, well today I got 3 meals free! It started with lunch time. At voith, this one guy brought in Pulled pork bbq and a bunch of other picinic type foods. He claims he was just celebrating life. Very interesting. Next, after work, I took a chance to take a different way home because i was looking for one of my banks to deposit my paychecks. Well not only did i find my bank on my first try, it was customer apreciation day, so i got like free hotdogs and stuff.

Much later in the day, I decided to go to the music store to get new strings for my guitar. I caved in and actually payed the extra $3 to get nicer strings this time, and boy was that a good decision. My guitar sounds like a whole different instrument. I fell in love with it again, but thats all besides the point. So right after i did all that, I went to jason kurziks house, and when his parents got home, they brought pizza! so i got to stuff myself on locally made brick oven baked white pizza, mmmmmmm.
So yup, 3 free meals and a new guitar today, awesome!
2nd Job June 14, 2006 07:45:17 AM

Well, I never thought I'd ever do this again. From past years it proved to be quite exhausting, but I took a second job. This time should be different though. No manual labor, and no dealing with people at either loaction, so thats deffinately a bonus.

The Voith job is going smoothly, I've got a bunch of little odd jobs to do here and there, but nothing extrordinarily difficult. To make things even better, I've got my own office! There was no room for more interns when I started, so my engineer, Hamzik, just gave me his old office. Its pretty sweet.

The job I just took is really cool too, something I actually like, no more of that bull-shit kmart crap. I'm working with Andrew's brother-in-law, John Darby, at his comic book business. It's ran out of his basement, and since Iv known john for a while, its almost like not even a job. To start, I was doing packaging. Like there would be this invoice sheet, address shipping lables, a table of stuff, and i would have to box all the appropriate things and prep it for mailing. Whats so neat about it is, I get to see all this old and new sci-fi stuff, page threw the comics, and even gather ideas for future drawings from all the artwork, all while talking to john, who is basically a new-age hippy, uber cool (hes a diehard lennon fan too).
Another One Bites the Dust June 06, 2006 10:31:17 PM

So today after work, there was an accident on Rt30 that was so bad, that they had traffic cops at 4 different intersections, the entire west-bound side closed from george street to pa ave, and it took me over an hour to get home, when it should have only taken 20min. I couldnt even tell where the acident was, messed up.

I went running again today. I know you're not suppose to exercise the same muscle groups 2 days in a row, but some people run every day of their life, and i've only got 3 good days I can run this week, plus don was available and needed a running mate. So I went. Man was it hot out there though. I didnt decrease my time yet, but I did stick with don most of the time to help keep him motivated, so that was just as fufilling i guess.

After babysitting, showering, getting dog food, stopping at subway for near-free subs for work tomorrow, i finally had a chance to sit and play my guitar, but by george, i couldnt find my pick again! I think i really lost it this time, cause i have no clue when or where i even saw it last :-/ That didnt stop me though, i grabbed another. Only one song in, though, a damn string broke, AHHH! It was the same one that always breaks too, the G string. Oh well, guess this means i should got to bed.
Bad Run June 05, 2006 06:32:46 PM

Allright, i must be in worse condition than i thought. Today was my first day of running for the year, and well, yeaaaah, im in rough shape :-/ Only three laps around sam lewis park, roughly 3 miles, up hills and down hills, took me 29:50! Almost a full half an hour. That's like an avg of 10 min per mile! Now granted this was my first day, I didnt think id be at a 10 min mile. On top of my horrific time, I now also have a blister on my right foot, and am sun burnt, lol what a first day, sheesh.
UVA Trip: Memorial Day June 04, 2006 02:48:55 AM

As soon as work let out, I went straight on the road, no stops home, that was too out of the way. I got down there at about 7:30pm. We were both very hungary, so the first thing we did was get food. First we took a walk to this one tree, and she gave me some of these freshly picked fruits. We couldnt figure out what they were, but they were pretty good. For the main course, We went to the WoodGrill, a western american buffet, very taisty. Another thing I feel i should mention here, was that I thought Khine looked remarkable that night. Now I dont know if it was because of what she was wearing, or because I just hadnt seen her in a while, but, damn, fiiine :-)

Saturday we slept in like crazy. When we finally got out of bed, we prepared for a trip to the lake. We packed a lunch then drove out to the BeverCreek Reservoir. This was really fun. We tried catching fish, skipped stones, sat around taking in the scenery, and saw a sunset. Afterwards, when we got home, we went threw one of my old photo albums. Ahh the memories.

Sunday we got up much earlier than the previous day and headed down to Tech. First thing we did down there was got some lunch with alex, chuck, and travis at some greek place we've never been to before, Suvlaki's. It was really good, esp for the prices. After that, we took a quick nap. Then it was time for more fun! I broke out the paintball gun, set up some tin can targets in the back yard, and let khine have at it. She caught on pretty quick for having such little gun experience. Once all the paintballs ran out, I took her back to my campus. Finally I was able to give her a good tour of my school. We even got to see a few 'extra' things. oh and even the drillfield was fun :-)

So monday we were able to get lunch at Dietrick. Khine said it was great, but i thought it was rather disapointing. They were missing a lot of things. Anyways, oddly enough, only a few min into the place, she got really sick. Poor girl was in the b-room for almost an hour. Its still inconclusive, but i think it was the straight everclear the night before. So after eating, we packed up our stuff at the zbt house. It was time to head back to uva. Once back, i had a few hours left. We mostly just chilled. I played my guitar a bit. It didnt take long, but 8pm rolled around quick. Now it was time for me to head home.

I packed up, fixed a tv, said my goodbyes, and headed out. So i thought i was about to make a new record again, through the washington way no less, but the worst thing ever happened. I was pulled over :-( I got a summons for doing 75 in a 60. Stupid cops. Shouldnt they be out busting criminals, why do they have to be getting speeders, its such a small little crime compared to some of the other things going on out there. But anyways, i had to pay 130 bucks. such a waiste, oh well, i guess i wont be speeding again for a while. All in all though, it was a good weekend, but then again, it always is when im down there. :-)
Andrews Last LBC June 02, 2006 02:04:10 PM

Last night at the LBC was the most interesting time me, don, and andrew had there in a while. First and foremost, it was an important night anyways because it was Andrews last time to go with us for the summer since he'll be in TN the whole time editing his movie.

So we get there, and its packed like usuall. We had to order at the bar because of the lack of seats, turned and faced the place with drinks in hand, then started our seat seeking. There was this one group of people who were leaving slowly one by one. They had 2 tables pushed together, and after not too long, they actually offered one of the tables too us. Almost right at that moment, however, they noticed that there was another group of 2 who were also waiting for a table about just a long. So jokingly, the guy offering the table was like, why dont you all just sit together, you dont all hate each other do ya? So after pulling the tables apart, we were like, meh, allright. SO we ended up sitting with these 2 guys.

At first it was a bit awkward, but as the night went on, it kept getting better. Still don't know either of their names, but one was a mechanical engineer from penn-state, and the other was an english major from millersville. They were both pretty old though, about 27-30ish.

Anyways, unfortunately I was the designated driver again, so Don and Andrew decided to match each other, drink for drink. It was rediculous, andrew fell way behind (hes like half the size of don) . Don had 6, and andrew just 3, but believe you me, they were both gone! LBC will do that to ya. I on the other hand did feel it pretty bad at first, but I ended up having 6 full glasses of water! Prentice, the bartender we know, said I was like a camel getting ready to wander threw the desert.

Later on, this old shirtless bearded drunk guy kept stumbling into the place. At first he was just incoherently yelling while walking around in circles. He was then starting to harass the customers so he was asked to leave. Well he sort of did then, but he just went and stood on the door step continuing to yell. We guess he was saying something along the lines of, he broke his toe and was suing lbc or something. Well, needless to say, the cops came and picked him up. That was interesting.

So like 4.5 hours after having our first beer there, we finally got up to head out. I was completely back to normal, the other 2 could barely sit up. The guys we sat with bid us off and turned out to be pretty cool, lots of random stories. Perhaps we'll see them next week.
omg, have to update! May 31, 2006 10:54:30 PM

ok, no time now, but i sure have been falling behind, so you can be sure theres more to come! updates on how i hate verizon, another awesome weekend with khine, my new job, and my exciting adventure at LBC.
Getting Rediculous May 20, 2006 09:12:50 PM

Ok now Im starting to hate all animals! I mean this is just getting rediculous. I just went outside to get something out of my car. I just had my car washed yesterday, and i swear to god, this is no lie, there are 11 seperate huge bird shits all over my car! This is just unprecidented. God damn birds, its like a freaken army of them declared war on my car, and my car obviously lost!
OMG WTF PROFS! May 15, 2006 03:30:27 AM

Allright, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!? I got my grades back today and I was completely caught off guard on this one! I dont understand it one bit. As it turns out, the class I was expecting to have to retake, ElectroMagnetic Fields II, well I ended up getting a C+! I not only passed it, I almost got a B! So I was very pleased with that. Ok, now on the other end of the spectrum. The class I thought I was doing the best in, Power Systems, the one class I thought I would have a garanteed good grade in, just so happened to be the class i did the worst in! How did this happen? I was above average on almost all the tests, I had decent grades on all the homeworks, i turned in the projects on time, ARGHHH it just makes no sense! The moment I saw this, i wrote him an email telling him there had to be a mistake. Im still waiting on his response, but Im beggining to think that this may be a lost cause, and that maybe I really did deserve this grade. I say this because, even though my grades were all above average, they were still all in the 50% range. This would mean that the Bastard didnt curve! He cant do that! Thats so evil, that would mean that he'd have to fail over half the class. Im sorry but thats just beyond messed up. Now the reason I say Im starting to think this was no mistake and that he really is sadistic is becasue I contacted 5 other people that were in my class, and only 1 of them got a passing grade. So that makes a 16.78% passing rate so far (counting myself). RETARDED! If I dont get at least a C- in this class, then I wont be able to use it as a prerequesit on my electives next sememster, which basically means that ill have to redo my schedule again! Professors are so freaken unpredictable, I absolutely hate it, at this rate I'll be at Tech till 2008 and 200K in debt :-(
COMMENT: Oh-HO! No, nonononono...of all the roadkills I've come across, squirrels and chipmunks make up about 70% of it. Groundhogs, about 25% and deer, just 5%. I've walked by squished squirrels around grounds many times before. Maybe the smartness of those animals are regional. Hmm..but then again, I don't drive. Still the numbers shouldn't be that different, you think?
